Anxiety

Anxiety

Anxiety, “a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome”. I would add or a free-floating angst.

Anxiety is so up for SO many people.  I would say that 90% of the folks that come into my office whether clients, students, or shoppers are dealing with some sort of anxiety.

There are so many factors that contribute to ongoing or occasional anxiety.  The COVID shutdown shook the world to its core. Never in the history of anyone alive right now has anything like that global shutdown occurred.  Our lives as we knew them, were no longer.  And while we continue to move away from that event, many have a form of PTSD.

The 24-hour news cycle feeds on fear.  If we listen to the news, or even as we check-out at the grocery store, we are fed the most recent doomsday headlines.  News organizations wouldn’t stay in business if they didn’t amp up the fear and anxiety.

Divisiveness fueled by social media/media destabilizes are societal bedrock and corrupts our sense of community.

All of these feelings flow into the collective consciousness and compound the feeling.  I often have to ask myself “is this mine?” Sometimes they are, sometimes I am tapping into the generalized uncertainty.  I could go on, there are astrological influences. There are many spiritual theories about what is happening evolutionarily.  I might go into that at another time, but for now I want to offer some

So, what can be done?  The simplest is to get into nature.  It offers us a wider perspective. An overview so to speak.  Going for a walk or a hike can transform your thought trajectory and shift you from flight/fight to rest/digest. Even if you can’t do either of those, just step outside, get your feet on the earth and breathe.  Transformational.

Breathing fully into your solar plexus (upper abdominal area).  You literally release calming brain chemicals and hormones when you can expand your breath to cause your tummy to rise. Sometimes this is not so easy when we are stressed, but stay with it. You will be glad. Sometimes counting your breath will help you be present to the breath, and therefore more grounded, and less anxious.

Reiki, energy work, massage, yoga, meditation, and cardio exercise are great ways to help with anxiety.

Rescue remedy is a homeopathic/flower essence stress reliever that I have found helpful.  There are many types of flower essences that are powerful allies.  Let me know if you would like more information on them.

Herbs like ashwagandha, passionflower, chamomile, lemon balm, valerian, lavender, & Kava are all great for helping to calm anxiety.  There are also essential oils that could be helpful.  Be cautious using EO’s around children & pets.  As with anything, please evaluate your personal health situation and medications for any possible contraindications.

If you are interested in exploring energy work to help with anxiety, please don’t hesitate to reach out or make an appointment.  I have many tools to help.  Please don’t hesitate to contact your physician if you feel you need immediate help.

Much love, Kelle

“I have had an amazing experience with Kelle. I was struggling with depression and anxiety pretty badly and decided to go see her for a reiki session. I was a bit skeptical at first but the results were amazing. My depression honestly fully disappeared and my anxiety levels dropped dramatically. I also felt a huge increase in my self-confidence.”  LY
